As you can probably tell, I absolutely love old comics, so despite the somewhat surreal outcome to the story, I really identified with the poor comic collector. Finding a cache of old comics like that was always a dream of mine ever since I was kid. That is, with a different ending to the story.
(By the way, I assume you're familiar with the Edgar Church collection and its discovery, but if not, I wrote a short article about it, among other things, here. It starts with the second one down entitled Rick’s Soapbox 11-24-08).
